The guides on Routewright are general information to help you manage your own home network. Please read these points before you change router settings.
Routers differ
Menu names, default addresses, default credentials and reset procedures vary by manufacturer, model, firmware version and internet provider. A step that matches one router may not match yours. When in doubt, follow the label on your device, its manual or your provider’s instructions.
Changing settings is your decision
Changing router settings, updating firmware or performing a factory reset can disconnect devices, interrupt your internet service or erase your configuration. You make those changes at your own risk. Write down your current settings, or back them up if your router allows it, before changing anything important.
Provider-owned equipment
If your router or gateway belongs to your internet provider, some settings may be locked, and a factory reset may require the provider to set the device up again. Check with them first.
Only access networks you own or manage
Our guides are for equipment you own or are authorized to manage. Do not try to access routers or networks that are not yours.
